S. Shariq Yosufzai is vice president for global diversity, ombuds, and university affairs of Chevron Corporation. Before assuming this role earlier in 2013, Yosufzai served as vice president, Chevron Corporation, supporting Chevron’s CEO & chairman on the National Petroleum Council’s “Advancing Technologies for America’s Transportation Future” study. He served as chair of the Chevron-led Supply & Infrastructure Task Group and as decision executive on Downstream Portfolio Projects worldwide.
In 2012, “Upwardly Global” named Yosufzai the year’s Outstanding Corporate Leader for his contributions to diversity and economic development in California. Previously, Yosufzai served as president, Chevron Global Marketing, where he led Chevron's fuels marketing, commercial and industrial marketing, and convenience retailing operations across 90 countries. In 2003, he assumed the responsibility as co-leader of Chevron Products Company, responsible for Chevron’s North America Refining and Marketing Operations.
In October 2001, Yosufzai was named president, Global Lubricants, upon the formation of ChevronTexaco. Earlier in his career, he served as corporate vice president of Caltex Corporation & president of Lubricants & New Business Development and president of Texaco Lubricants Company. For his leadership as president, Texaco Lubricants Company, he was named Lubricant’s World magazine's "Person of the Year" in 1996.
Yosufzai currently serves as immediate past chair of the Board of Directors of the California Chamber of Commerce and is an Executive Committee member of the San Francisco Opera’s Board of Directors. He previously served as chair of the Board of the Association of Former Students of Texas A&M.
Yosufzai also serves as Executive Sponsor of Chevron’s University Partnership Program for the University of California, Berkeley, and Texas A&M University, and on the Advisory Board of Texas A&M’s Dwight Look College of Engineering and on the Chancellor’s Century Council of the Texas A&M University System.
Named a Distinguished Graduate of the Chemical Engineering Department of Texas A&M University in 1998, in 1999 he became the first person to be honored by the school as both an Outstanding International Alumnus and a Distinguished Alumnus. In 2011, he was named an Outstanding Alumnus of the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M.
Earlier this year, AIChE honored Yosufzai with its Fuels & Petrochemicals Division Award, which recognizes individuals who have made substantial contributions to the advancement of the fuels and petrochemicals industries. Previously, Yosufzai was the recipient of AIChE’s Inaugural Industry Leadership Award in 2010 and the Robert L. Jacks Memorial Award from AIChE’s Management Division in 1995.
Yosufzai chaired AIChE’s inaugural Management Conference in 1994, and was the first chair of AIChE’s Societal Impact Operating Council in 1999. Earlier, he served as chair of AIChE’s Public Relations Committee and chair of the Southeast Texas Section. He was elected a Fellow of AIChE in 2002 and is a life member. He currently serves as member of the Board of Trustees of the AIChE Foundation.
