Lynne Johnson Carrithers is Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Aera Energy LLC, an upstream oil and gas company owned by Shell and ExxonMobil and headquartered in Bakersfield, California. Lynne has over twenty years’ experience in the energy industry. Prior to joining Aera in 2012, Lynne was Managing Counsel for Occidental of Elk Hills, Inc., Senior Counsel for Chevron Corporation and Senior Counsel for Mobil Oil Corporation and then Exxon Mobil Corporation. Lynne also worked for several law and consulting firms representing the energy industry, including Reid and Priest, Hunton and Williams, Scenario Regulatory Management and Klein DeNatale, Goldner, Cooper, Rosenlieb and Kimball. The National Diversity Council named her one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Oil and Gas for 2014 and again in 2015. Lynne earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Penn State University and her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University. Lynne currently serves as a director on the boards of the Kern County Bar Association, Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance and Kern County Court Appointed Special Advocates. Most recently, Lynne joined the Women’s Leadership Council for the United Way of Kern County. She is also a VIP member of the National Association of Professional Women. In addition, Lynne was a founding director of the Kern County Alliance of Women in Energy and is past president of the Kern County Women Lawyers Association.
